Centenary Bank surged to the top of the Corporate Sports Network (CSN) standings after the third outing, held at Jephi International University (formerly Gems Cambridge), in a rain-interrupted round of fixtures.
The bankers now lead the log with 30 points, edging ahead of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), who sit second. Graphics Systems occupy third place, while a resurgent National Social Security Fund (NSSF) side continues to impress in fourth with 27 points.
Last season’s runners-up, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), are currently fifth, while defending champions Quality Chemicals find themselves in an unfamiliar position—ninth—with 24 points.
The matchday, however, fell short of expectations as several fixtures were disrupted, with part of the pitch taken up by a Big League clash between Police Young and Nsambya SC.
Despite the interruptions, fans were treated to a string of thrilling encounters.
Africa Global Logistics (AGL) pulled off one of the standout results of the day, defeating former powerhouse and 2024 champions Tropical Bank, who appear to be struggling following the departure of key players.
Coca-Cola Beverages Africa battled to a 1-1 draw with the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, while Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) delivered a dominant 3-0 win over DTB Bank. Case Hospital was in ruthless form, thrashing DHL International 4-0 in one of the biggest wins of the outing.
In the 35+ category, Coca-Cola Beverages edged ABSA 1-0, Centenary Bank secured a narrow victory over DTB Bank by the same margin, and Hotel Africana cruised past debutants Old Mutual with a comfortable 3-0 win.
The intensity of the competition was evident as tempers flared, with four yellow cards issued to players from Case Hospital, Uganda Breweries, NCBA Uganda, and SGA Security for rough play.
With the standings beginning to take shape, the race for CSN glory is heating up. Have Centenary Bank firmly planted their flag at the summit? Is it still early days? Time will tell.
