The Corporate Sports Network (CSN) will hold its 2026 Swimming and Pool Championship on Sunday, October 11, at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
The championship, which gets underway at 8:00am, will bring together corporate teams for a day of competition, networking and social interaction.
To complement the sporting action, Hotel Africana has offered participants a discounted buffet rate of Sh40,000 per person.
However, Hotel Africana has reminded teams that outside food and drinks will not be allowed on the premises. “We encourage team managers to communicate the hotel policy to their players, officials and supporters ahead of the outing. They need to make their catering bookings early to enable the hotel to adequately plan for the expected numbers,” Leslie Barigye, CSN’s publicist said.
Away from that question is whether Hotel Africana will boss its guests like it did last year in swimming. It was a heated affair; there were calls for VAR to decide the winner.
“VAR has denied us the gold,” Hotel Africana fans joked, after Centenary Bank’s Silver Ogwang was eventually announced winner of the men’s 25m swimming final on June 8 last year.
The announcement came long after a photo finish sparked an argument about who tapped the wall first of Ogwang and Africana’s Jacob Mugisha.
At first, Mugisha was smiling with the assuredness of victory. He was right, maybe. But he was in the waters but those on the environs—officials, fellow swimmers and mere fans—had varying opinions.
Maybe the guy who had been doing aerial coverage of the event using a drone, would have had a better view, but was no longer on site. Now the debate was based on footage of conventional video cameras, smartphones and naked eyes.
Mugisha settled for silver while Equity Bank’s Abdallah Muwaga got bronze.
Earlier, Africana’s Plaxidah Nakabanda had claimed gold in the women’s final, while Quality Chemicals’ Tracey Aweko got silver and Equity’s Sandra Namasaba got bronze.
But it was in the team relays where Africana proved invincible—winning every single race to gold. Mugisha, Nakabanda, Raymond Mugasa and Yuda Morris Ssekamatte, were just unstoppable.
They switched roles through the stages. Will they repeat the feat on Sunday, October 8? Their coach is keeping his cads close to his chest but insists that he has a better team to repeat the feat.
