It is now official. The second outing of the prestigious Corporate Sports Network that was slated for March 30, 2025, has been moved a week earlier.
In a communication to team managers, CSN’s General Manager, Mr. Charles Ssempagala, revealed that the official second outing is slated for March, 23 2025, at the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Sports Grounds
He revealed that companies will participate in soccer and basketball. “We shall have soccer and basketball. For the soccer, we shall have the normal games plus the over 35 category. We shall also have basketball, which will be played in group stages. There will be a draw for basketball on Sunday, March 23, 2025, before the games commence,” Mr. Ssempagala said.
He also revealed that there will also be an acclimatisation/training session for corporates who want to come to grips with the game of darts before competition kicks off in the ensuring outing.
Mr. Ssempagala revealed the decision to bring the outing a week earlier came after speculation over Eid ul-Fitr, which is expected to take place on Sunday 30th March 2025 or Monday 31st March 2025, depending on the sighting of the moon.
“Millions of Muslims in countries around the world will soon be celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Traditionally, people who practice Islam wait for the sighting of a crescent moon to determine when Eid festivities can kick off. It is likely to happen on March 30 or Monday, March 31. So, we didn’t want to speculate over such an important date and brought it earlier. We wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Ramadan period,” he revealed.
Eid al-Fitr concludes the fasting period in the Muslim religion, the celebrations for which families and friends gather, pray, and eat together.
