The Ministry of Health has cleared the resumption of the Corporate Sports Network ( CSN) Games after health authorities determined that the risk posed by a recent Ebola scare had been contained.

The games, which had been temporarily suspended in May 2026  as a precautionary measure following reports of a suspected Ebola case in the host region, are now set to continue after comprehensive health assessments and surveillance measures found no evidence of ongoing transmission.

In a letter dated 19, June 2026,  addressed to Astra Corporate Sports Network,  Ministry of Health officials said extensive screening, contact tracing, and laboratory testing had been conducted in collaboration with district health teams and other stakeholders.

“We have reviewed your application and the proposed preventive measures. The Ministry hereby clears Astra Corporate Sports Network to conduct sports activities listed in the letter subject to Standard Operating Procedures ( SOPs) for mass gatherings,” the letter signed by Professor Charles Olaro, the Director General of Health Services reads.

The decision comes as a relief to hundreds of athletes, coaches, and supporters who had been left in uncertainty after organizers halted activities in May . The suspension was intended to allow health authorities sufficient time to investigate the suspected case and put in place preventive measures.

Organizers of the CSN Games welcomed the ministry’s decision, saying participant safety remains their top priority.

“We appreciate the guidance provided by the Ministry of Health and the cooperation shown by all teams during this period. The games will resume under strict health protocols to ensure the well-being of everyone involved,”Mr. Charles Ssempagala, the General Manager CSN said.

As part of the safety measures, participants will continue to undergo routine health screening, while handwashing facilities and sanitation stations will remain available at Jeph University for the outing on Sunday, June 28, 2026.  He said  for this outing, the Netball finals,  football, Volleyball and darts will be contested as had been planned in May.

Athletes expressed excitement at the prospect of returning to competition after days of uncertainty.

“We were worried when the games were stopped, but we understand that health comes first. We are happy that the authorities have given us the green light to continue,” said Julius Kafuluma, Vision Group’s captain.

It should be recalled that the s much-anticipated May outing that had been scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026 was suspended.

In an official statement released by CSN Management, the decision was reached after extensive consultations with the police, the Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders.

“The health, safety and well-being of our players, fans and everyone associated with the league remains our top priority,” the statement read in part.
