The Corporate Sports Network is in mourning following the untimely death of Charles Yoronimu Masereka, the team manager of DTB Bank.
Masereka passed away early Thursday morning following a tragic accident.
A humble and kind soul, Masereka’s death, which was broken on Thursday morning, left many in shock.
“Masereka was an integral part of the CSN community, and his dedication, passion and commitment to corporate sports will be deeply missed,” Mike Kajubi, the CSN Board Chairperson, condoled.
“It’s very unfortunate that our brother has gone too early. May he RIP. Charles, we shall miss your vibe in sports, work, church, environment, team building, family, and friends. May you be received by the Angels,” a colleague wrote on X.
A seasoned banker, Masereka, who was voted manager of the year at the CSN awards 2024, stood twice for the slot of chairman for CSN’s Exco. Although he lost the vote last Saturday (15th November) at the AGM, he was gracious in defeat and vowed to work closely with CSN.
Colleagues described him as both intensely driven and deeply compassionate. “He believed it was his role to serve people, not the other way around,” said a devastated colleague “His passion for sports at DTB Bank inspired everyone around him.”
According to a burial programme by A-Plus Funeral Services, Masereka’s body will lie overnight at his home in Namakonkome, Kigogwa, Bombo Road. There will be a requiem mass at Christ the King Church Kampala on Friday. Burial will take place at Munkuunyu village, Kasese District, on Saturday, 22 November.
