The Corporate Sports Network October outing is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, at Jephi University (formerly Gems Cambridge International School), with athletics taking centre stage among other disciplines.
According to communication from CSN’s technical department, the outing will feature normal and 35+ games. For the 35+ games, which are at the quarter-final stage, games will be on a knockout basis, and a winner is expected to be announced at the outing.
Among the 8 teams vying for the trophy are Uganda Breweries, Centenary Bank, Dfcu Bank and Uganda Revenue Authority. Others are Stanbic Bank, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) and Quality Chemicals Industries Limited (QCIL).
According to CSN’s technical officer, Asadu Semeere, the day’s activities will kick off with athletics, which is expected to start at 9:00 am after team inspections. “We will use the bets time method. Athletes will be grouped into different heats, and each participant’s time will be recorded and graded based on the heat’s time. “Participants are encouraged to give their best effort, as there will only be one round,” he advised.
He revealed that for the 100 metres (men’s category), the idea is to have those above 35 years compete. However, for the 100 metres (women), 200 metres (men and women) and relays, there are no restrictions, as they are open to all age groups. However, he cautioned that each team should at least have a lady on the team.
He reveals that Tug of War will start in the afternoon after the completion of football and athletics. “Tug of war is an open game. Each team should comprise 10 people, with at least one woman on the team. If there is no woman on the team, the task will be completed by nine people.” Semeere said
He also said that the game will be conducted in a knockout format, following a best-of-three duel. The top four teams from last year are to be seeded to avoid meeting in the first round. The rest will be drawn by a raffle.
