The Maroons Sports Grounds in Luzira buzzed with excitement on Sunday afternoon as the fun games (sack race and 3-legged race) got underway at CSN’s eighth outing.
Fans from respective teams gathered at the starting line, sacks in hand, laughter already bubbling in the air. The participants were tasked with something simple. Step into the large sacks and pull them up to their waist and hop forward toward the finish line, holding the sack tightly so it doesn’t slip down.
For many, it was easier said than done. The races quickly turned hilarious as people lost balance and tumbled over, while some had to get urgent medical attention after some awkward falls. Lesson: Never attempt the sack race in tight jeans and All-Star shoes, like a Vision Group participant rudely found out.
For most of the races, for both the men and women’s sack races, there were photo finishes. Cheers grew louder as two frontrunners bounced neck-and-neck; their faces lit with determination. With a final desperate leap, some of them theatrically dived over the finishing line, collapsing in a heap of joy and exhaustion.
In the individual men’s sack race, Equity Bank bagged gold and was followed by Centenary Bank (silver) and transmitters UETCL, who won bronze. In the women’s race, UETCL won gold by a clear mile. They were followed by Mogo Loans and Dummen Orange in that order.

No sooner has the laughter settled than pairs step forward for the three-legged race. Each duo tied their legs together, some tightening knots with nervous determination, others already giggling at the challenge ahead.
When the whistle blew, chaos erupted. Pairs lurched forward, some in perfect rhythm, chanting “left, right, left!” like soldiers, while others tripped over themselves instantly, crashing to the ground in a tangle of arms and legs.

One pair from Hotel Africana stumbled three times but refused to give up, dragging each other upright, laughing so hard they could barely breathe. For the winning teams, some perfectly synchronised their movements and glided across the grass like they shared one body.
By the end, the winners from UETCL (gold), DFCU (silver) and Centenary Bank (bronze) were cheered to the podium to pick their medals.
