The Astra Corporate Sports Network 2026 season is set to kick off on Sunday 22nd February at the Legends Rugby Club Grounds in Lugogo.

The season opener, which kicks off with football, is expected to bring together corporate teams, partners and sports fans for a day of competitive play, networking and entertainment.

Mr Kennedy Mpanga, the Chairman of EXCO of the Astra Corporate Sports Network, revealed at a press conference held at Hotel Africana on Monday, 16 February, that 40 companies have confirmed participation in this year’s activities, and registration of new companies is ongoing until the end of the month.

“We wish to welcome the new companies in 2026 that include Old Mutual Insurance, Pride Bank, Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), Movit Products, Exim Bank, Nile Breweries Limited, Judicial Service Commission and NCBA Bank. They will have a unique opportunity to team build, create company visibility and ensure participants attain fitness while bonding with others,” Mr Mpanga said.

He reveals that the first outing will be dedicated to football. He also maintains that all the other disciplines the corporates competed in during the previous season have been retained.

These include football, woodball, netball, basketball, athletics, tug of war, fun games, swimming, billiards (pool), darts, and volleyball, among others.

CSN’s head of discipline, Florence Kizito, stresses a point during the press conference at Hotel Africana

Mpanga says that the games this season will be played at selected venues that can accommodate the numbers and ensure maximum security for participants. These include Luzira Prison Grounds, Makerere University Business School, Legends Rugby Grounds and Hotel Africana (swimming).

CSN’s chairman, Exco, in an executive meeting with team managers, congratulated all companies, notably the previous season’s overall winners, Hotel Africana, first runners-up Centenary Bank and second runners-up DFCU Bank.

He emphasised that discipline was paramount in these games and vowed to wipe out the sporadic cases where some companies still hire mercenaries. “We expect teams to share a list of permanent and non-permanent staff for verification and updating. We shall not encourage abrupt player verification going forward,” Mpanga said

Case Hospital’s Alex Sunday promised a bigger package to CSN during the 2026 season.

He also revealed that a standard code of conduct has been put in place and will be shared regularly with team managers to ensure it is adhered to.

“We have a zero tolerance for mercenaries. Companies are encouraged to have participants’ lists. Upon confirmation and verification, these participants will be uploaded on our portals,” he said.

He revealed that CSN will carry out its Corporate Social Responsibility campaign geared towards health, water and sanitation on August 15, 2026, in Kalagi, Mukono District.

Present at the press conference was medical sponsor Case Hospital, whose manager, Mr Alex Sunday, promised increased support towards the league in 2026.
