Diamond Trust Bank’s Achievers brought up the heat at the Annual Bankers Sports Gala 2025 games held on Sunday, 12th October 25, at the Lugogo Indoor stadium.
The bankers won gold in netball, volleyball and pool, defeating Pride Bank, Equity Bank and Absa Bank respectively.
“It was about teamwork, spirit and fun today. We are looking to the final outing next week when we contest in soccer, basketball and athletics at the Kyambogo university grounds,” their captain said.
The games contested on Sunday included badminton, chess, darts, netball, pool, table tennis and volleyball.
The 2025 Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala was launched on September 5, 2025, with a Bankers’ Run/Walk held at the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA) offices in Muyenga.

Organized by the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (UIBFS) and the UBA, the event marks the beginning of a multi-week sporting extravaganza under the theme “Beyond the Finish Line”.
The gala officially kicked off with a Run/Walk at the UBA offices in Muyenga on September 5, 2025 and runs October 19, 2025 under the theme, “Beyond the Finish Line”.
During the launch Goretti Masadde the chief executive officer of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services, which organised the gala in partnership with UBA said, “This gala is not just about competition. It is a platform where we, as bankers and financial sector professionals, step away from our desks and offices to connect, to celebrate teamwork, and to promote wellness,” Masadde said.
“It is a reminder that while we work hard to keep our sector strong, we must also take care of ourselves.” This year’s theme, ‘Beyond the Finish Line’, could not be more relevant,” she said. “Just like in our sector, where challenges demand innovation and persistence, today’s run is not only about crossing the line—it’s about pushing ourselves, supporting each other, and embracing wellness as a lifestyle.”
The 2025 Bankers’ Sports Gala, features a diverse lineup of activities including indoor games, outdoor competitions, swimming, quizzes, and the highly anticipated CEO/ExCo Golf Tournament.
