The fourth outing of the Corporate Sports Network games at former GEMS Cambridge Luzira, was a wet affair.
An afternoon down pour drenched the football pitches, which led to chaotic, scenes where nature and sport collided.
The rain poured steadily from dark, low-hanging clouds, turning the grassy field into a patchwork of puddles and mud.
Players splashed water with every step and accelerations were nearly impossible.
With express orders that all fixtures had to be honoured to clear a fixture backlog, games went on as referees wiped rain from their face, eyes squinting through the downpour, as the game. There were some cricket scores during the outing in which some teams simply gave up.
In some of the notable drubbings, , I&M bank defeated SGA Security by 9-0 , Tropical Bank defeated Platinum Credit by 4-0, Jubilee Life 4- Absa Bank 0, SGA 0- Platinum Credit 3, Housing Finance 3- I&M bank. Civil Aviation 3- Hariss International 0.
There were also changes at the top of the log with Tropical Bank going back to the summit. They dislodged URA at the top. Both teams have 37 points although Tropical Bank have played a game more ( 15 games). Top on their heels are UBL 36, Civil Aviation, Vision Group, Roofings, Hotel Africana,
On the top scorer’s log, UBL’s Jimmy Omel ( 9 goals) leads. Tumusiime Sula, Mogo Loans, 8 Musoke Stanley, Tropical Bank, 7 follow closely. Dfcus Betty Namataka, leads the women with 4 goals.
For the fans, the drenched afternoon meant that they had to ward off the cold by enjoying warm beer and booming music.
