The former GEMS Cambridge Indoor Facility, located in Butabika, has stood out for offering world-class amenities, especially in sports. It will host the Corporate Sports Network for this month’s outing on April 27.
Once, Peace Proscovia, the skipper of the Netball She Cranes, described the facility as the best on the land, saying, “I feel so great. It is like I am in Europe. The surface is so soft and shall not fear any injuries.”
Indeed, after camping there for weeks, the Netball She Cranes performed wonders at their very first netball World Cup in Australia, where they finished a respectable 8th out of sixteen teams.
Mr. Charles Ssempagala, the GM of Corporate Sports Network, tells the website that GEMS Cambridge International School, Butabika, offers a range of sports facilities, including a sports hall, a football pitch, a basketball court, and a standard swimming pool. He, however, says that for this outing, CSN will utilise the basketball courts and the football pitch.
“Whereas we have had some complaints that it is located in the outskirts, many will appreciate the quality of facilities and the turf during the outing,” Ssempagala says. He encourages teams to make it on time such that the day’s activities, which include football, darts, and basketball, are concluded on time.

A sneak peek at the facilities:
Nestled within a serene landscape, the tranquil sports facility is designed to promote both physical activity and relaxation. Upon entering the grounds, visitors are greeted by lush greenery and gently swaying trees that create a peaceful ambiance.
The basketball courts are housed in a spacious, open-air pavilion. The natural light floods the space, enhancing the vibrant energy of the games while providing a comfortable seating arrangement that allows spectators to relax and enjoy the games without feeling crowded.
The football field is made of eco-friendly turf and is situated in a sun-drenched area, offering ample space for practice and matches. The Gems Cambridge facility creates a unique sense of seclusion, making it feel like a hidden gem, and we can expect a goal galore this time round off’ the’soft’ pitch.
Overall, the facility serves as a perfect escape for athletes and nature lovers alike, promoting both spirited competition and calm relaxation in a beautifully designed setting. Whether practicing, watching others, or unwinding in the serenity of nature, CSN participants will leave Butabika feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
