The opening of a football season always carries a unique energy—filled with anticipation, excitement, and a renewed sense of hope for fans and players alike.
Corporate Sports Network’s 2025 season kicked off with a thrilling mix of high-octane action, unexpected surprises, and the kind of dramatic moments that make football such a beloved sport. One of the notable highlights under the humid weather was when Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) humbled overall defending champions Centenary Bank by a solitary goal.
From the first whistle, it was clear that teams had come prepared for the challenge ahead. The early games were dominated by fast-paced play and intense competition, with standout performances from both seasoned stars and emerging talents. Debutants, ABSA bank, laid an early mark and showed they will not be pushovers. Their draw with Centenary Bank was one of the most engaging games.

The Tropical Bank football team started off from where they ended last season winning all their games.
What stood out most during the opening rounds was the strong sense of unpredictability. Teams came out with a vengeance, defying expectations and delivering some of the most entertaining football with the likes of Africa Global Logistics, DHL, and SGA Security putting up electrifying displays.
The atmosphere was equally exciting off the field, with a legion of traditional drummers ferried in by URA providing the off-field entertainment. The highlight, though, was the Prisons Brass Band that did covers for popular military brass and secular songs.

For players, the season opener provided a special vibe with tangible hunger in their performances, as they pushed to make their mark. Any early favourites? It was evident last year’s winners in football started off from where they stopped last season. They steamrolled debutants ERA by 4 goals to nil, drubbed DHL logistics by 3 goals to nil, and edged fellow bankers DTB bank by a solitary goal, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

The opening of this season has set the bar high, leaving fans eagerly awaiting what will come at the next outing that happens at the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) grounds, where companies will compete in football and basketball.
